Land Preparation

Land preparation works prior to planting are carried out annually over Devon, Cornwall and Somerset.

Furrowing

We have worked closely with various forestry bodies over the years to perfect our furrowing works whereby various trials were carried out over a number of seasons to perfect the elevation and watershed abilities preventing young trees from being swamped.

Brash Raking

Brash raking also forms a large part of our annual work program. Specialist brash raking forks are fitted to machines to minimise earth being trapped within the material. This clean material will rot quickly and freely after these works.

V Ditching, Drainage and Road Maintenance

V ditching, drainage and road maintenance are second nature. Preparation using select materials and compaction are vital to the stability of forest haul roads.

We carry out excavation of new timber extraction tracks, plotting new routes through felling areas to minimise downtime in wet or steep areas. Select materials are supplied and delivered by Luke Furse Earthmoving Ltd on demand.

Pond Construction

In many cases settlement ponds are constructed on the out fall point of drainage ditches for the avoidance of silt entering our watercourses. In some cases conservation ponds are also constructed for wildlife.

Scrub Cutting

Many hectares of scrub cutting work is undertaken with our heavy duty single rotor machines.

Harvesting and Timber Extraction

Windblown and large areas. Selecting and stacking in different sizes as required. Price based on a cubic metre or tonnage rate.

All our forest operators are experienced, skilled and FMOD certified. Machines are fully guarded with armour plated belly plates. Extra track guides and cab guarding is fitted.

In the unlikely event of a leak occuring, all our hydraulic machines carry oil spillage kits to minimise any impact on the environment and facilitate easy and efficient clean-up.
